3 Simple Stars and Snowflake Craft
Often the sweetest crafts come from the simplest things—like a paper towel roll or gathered sticks. These simple Christmas/Winter stars and snowflakes are the perfect addition to a snowy day inside. They require no prep, little to no expense, and result in something simply beautiful.
Paper Roll Stars
You’ll Need:
paper towel rolls
Scissors
Hot glue gun
String or ribbon for hanging
Optional: paint, glitter, or gold paper for decoration
Instructions:
Flatten the paper roll gently and cut it into thin rings—each about ½ inch wide.
Cut at a diagonal on both ends making them almost come to a point (see picture).
Fold 5-7 rings in half. Arrange the rings in a star/flower shape, with the tips meeting in the center.
Glue the points together and let dry.
Add string or ribbon to hang your star, or glue it to the top of your stick tree!
You can leave it natural or paint it gold, silver, or white for a soft shimmer.
Paper Roll Snowflakes
You’ll Need:
paper towel rolls
Scissors
Hot glue gun
String or ribbon for hanging
Optional: paint, marker, pen for decoration
Instructions:
Flatten the paper roll gently and cut it into thin rings—each about ½ inch wide.
Cut at a diagonal on both ends making them almost come to a point (see picture).
Decorate three of the rings with paint, marker or pen.
Interlace the three rings to look like a snowflake. Glue the centers in place.
Add string or ribbon to hang your snowflake.
Simple Stick Stars
You’ll Need:
A handful of small sticks or twigs (gathered from outside)
String, ribbon or yarn
Scissors
hot glue gun
Instructions:
Gather and trim your sticks so they’re about the same length.
Lay them out in the shape of a five-pointed star to get a sense of placement.
Begin by gluing two sticks together at a point to form the top of a triangle.
Glue a third stick from the bottom corner of the right stick, crossing over to the left.
Add the fourth stick across from the open end of the stick you just glued—this forms the middle line of the star.
Finish by gluing the final stick underneath, connecting the last open ends to complete your star shape.
Once the glue is dry, tie a loop of ribbon, string, or yarn to the top for hanging.
You can use your stars or snowflakes to decorate your house or in the retelling of the Christmas story; as the star led the wisemen to Bethlehem. These simple crafts offer a sweet way to slow down together and connect in the Advent or winter season.
