3 Simple Christmas Tree Crafts
There’s something so sweet about gathering what’s already around us—fallen sticks, scraps of twine, bits of ribbon, rolls from paper towels—and creating something beautiful. These simple Christmas Tree crafts only require a couple things. They are little prep, inexpensive, easy, and fun—leaving you with something beautiful to treasure for years to come, or recycle/compost, and make again next year.
Simple Stick Tree Craft
You’ll Need:
A handful of small sticks or twigs (gathered from outside)
String, ribbon or yarn
Scissors
hot glue gun
Instructions:
Gather several sticks of different lengths.
Cut three sticks to your desired length (two long and one shorter) and lay out in the shape of a triangle (Christmas tree). Cut a fourth to use for the trunk (we chose a tiny trunk).
You can either use twine to tie them together or hot glue—which is easier.
Tie a ribbon, string, or yarn in a circle at the top to make your ornament.
Optional: you can choose to wrap your tree in yarn or ribbon to “fill it in.” Tie or glue the end at the top of the tree and wrap around the tree until the whole area is covered. You can also leave it open and skip this step.
Leave it natural, or add some festive touches, a bow or star at the top. Paint it or add stickers. The options are endless.
Simple Paper Towel Roll Tree Craft
You’ll Need:
Paper towel Rolls
Pencil
Scissors
Paint, Bingo Daubers, Crayons
Instructions:
Retrieve paper towel rolls out of the recyle
Fold in half.
Draw a tree on the paper towel roll including the trunk and a line for the tree stand, leaving room at the points so as to keep the paper towel roll connected (see picture).
Cut out the tree.
Color and decorate the tree. If your kids are really little, they could color the paper towel roll before you cut it out.
Optional: you can choose to wrap your tree in yarn or ribbon to “fill it in.” Tie or glue the end at the top of the tree and wrap around the tree until the whole area is covered. You can also leave it open and skip this step.
Pop open and enjoy!

Pinecone
Pom poms
Hot glue gun
Instructions:

Select pom poms.
Glue them onto the ends of the pinecone to make a simple, pinecone tree.
These tiny trees are a beautiful reminder to lift our gaze upward. As you craft you can talk with your children about how evergreen trees can remind us of God’s everlasting life and unchanging love.
